Our Story
I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, regardless of their budget. Too often, quality outdoor gear is priced beyond the reach of beginners, families, or casual adventurers. By offering affordable but durable and reliable equipment, I want to break down that barrier and make outdoor exploration more inclusive and accessible.
My goal is to empower people to connect with nature—whether that means hiking a local trail, camping with friends, or trying a new adventure for the first time—without worrying about the cost of gear. At the same time, I want to ensure that the products I offer are well-made and dependable, so people feel safe, comfortable, and confident during their outdoor experiences.
This business isn’t just about selling gear—it’s about encouraging healthy lifestyles, building community, and inspiring people to explore the world around them.

Why us?
Some people discover their love for nature later in life. For me, it was always there—woven into the earliest moments I can remember. Long before I could put words to it, I was drawn to the outdoors. Dirt paths, towering trees, and wide-open skies felt more like home than the walls of any house.
Weekends meant hiking trips with family, camping under star-scattered skies, or simply riding my bike down trails that felt like secret passages to another world. I learned the names of trees and birds before I could navigate a map. I knew which creeks would dry out in the summer and where to find the best skipping stones in spring.
Being outside taught me patience, curiosity, and respect—things I carry with me even today. It grounded me in ways I didn’t understand at the time. When the noise of life gets too loud, I still find myself going back to the woods, to the trails, to the quiet hum of wind through the trees.
I guess what I'm trying to say is my life is the outdoors and I feel I've spent enough time in it to understand what is essential to create a appropriate product to withstand the elements and challenges of the great outdoors!
So with my motive for Merlin Outdoors explained! I will leave you with this picture of my best friend and the best companion for exploring the outdoors. Taken when we arrived in Inverie while backpacking in Knoydart (Scotland).
